Italy is still attracting lifestyle migrants, retirees and remote workers, but the big change in recent years has been elsewhere: away from the European Union and towards South Asia, North Africa, Ukraine and, increasingly, Latin America. In 2024, the main source countries were Bangladesh (30,692), Albania (27,538), Ukraine (25,557), Morocco (24,268), Pakistan (21,255), Egypt (20,852), Romania (20,344), Tunisia (18,204), Argentina (16,573) and Peru (16,111).
